The annual Mr VicBears pageant. The sash. The community. The night.
Mr VicBears is our annual pageant, run each January as part of BearFest. The competition is open to all current VicBears members, and the night is one of the highlights of the summer festival. The winner carries the sash for the year, represents VicBears at community events across the country, and is the community's ambassador until the next pageant.
The pageant is a celebration, not a cattle call. There are categories, there is talent, there is on-stage interview, there is a sash. There is also a fair amount of sequins, depending on the year. Past winners have ranged from quiet and reserved to very much the opposite. The only real criteria is being a current member and being willing to put yourself forward.
Tickets for the pageant go on sale with BearFest tickets, usually in December. Nomination forms come out earlier in the year — keep an eye on the newsletter, or drop us a line and we'll add you to the list.
