The regional pageant. Bears from across Australasia. One night during Southern HiBearnation.
Mr Australasia Bear is the regional pageant run each year during Southern HiBearnation. The competition is open to bears from across Australia, New Zealand, and the wider region, and the winner represents the region at Mr Bear international events for the following year.
The night is the crown event of the SH program. It's a ticketed event, the room is full, and the pageant is preceded by a few hours of pre-show drinks in the same venue. The competition itself includes interview, talent, and the famous bear dance category — although the dance category is more "interpretive" than "competitive," depending on the year.
Applications to compete open in early April and close in early May. Tickets for the night go on sale with SH festival tickets. Drop us a line if you want to apply, or if you want to be put on the list for ticket release announcements.
